Country gentleman

In the 60s it was easy to meet characters resembling this image. Frequenting the provincial towns on market days, it was customary to treat the products of the countryside in the little huts that formed on these occasions. The characters involved in clothing and attitude resemble the image of the painting. This could be a sort of good-natured caricature of a period in the history of our countryside that Bice naturally picked up because she was always a careful observer of the society around her. I would like to draw attention to the details: the hat was almost an obligation, the always lit cigarette gave security and masculinity to a person facing economic negotiations, another important detail was the jacket in any season, in winter at most a swarm. The economic negotiations made us forget the cold of the Po Valley winters.
The painting is painted with a technique dear to the artist's pictorial period, ink and charcoal. The work is sold as in the photo, therefore with frame and glass. The dimensions of the card refer only to the painted part.
